Resources to better understand your finances

1. The Reserve Bank initiates, or participates in, public awareness initiatives as the need arises on Fraud and Identity theft. Details of some such campaigns are contained below.

2. The Office of the Credit Ombud resolves complaints from consumers and businesses that are negatively impacted by credit bureau information or when a consumer has a dispute with a credit provider. The services are free of charge. http://www.creditombud.org.za/

3. Any ordinary consumer may lodge a complaint against any institution offering credit, against a debt counsellor and a credit bureau provided the NCR has jurisdiction. The NCR can assist you if your complaint relates to a credit agreement and its contents e.g. interest, initiation fee, over-deductions and overcharging etc.
