The National Credit Act (NCA) introduced debt counselling as a formal debt relief measure whereby a debt counsellor determines whether a consumer is or unable to satisfy, in a timely manner, all the obligations under all the credit agreements to which the consumer is a party.
A Debt Counsellor is defined in terms of the National Credit Act regulations as a natural person who is registered by the National Credit Regulator (NCR) in terms of section 44 of the Act, offering a service of debt counselling.
Can one get a credit score when under debt review? Credit scoring is not possible for people under debt review. Under normal circumstances, there is a flag on a consumer’s profile.
